Glencore International plc, together with its subsidiaries, engages in producing, sourcing, processing, refining, transporting, storing, financing, and supplying commodities to industries worldwide. It operates in three segments: Metals and Minerals, Energy Products, and Agriculture Products. The Metals and Minerals segment produces and trades aluminum, alumina, and bauxite; and markets bulk ferroalloys, noble alloys, nickel and cobalt metals, and carbon steel products, as well as supplies silicon alloys and iron ores. It also provides zinc, lead, and copper concentrates; and raw materials used to produce zinc, lead, and copper metals, as well as by-products, such as sulphuric acid. In addition, this segment sells zinc, lead, and copper metals produced from concentrates, as well as markets zinc, lead, and copper metals purchased from third parties. The Energy Products segment offers crude oil and oil products, such as fuel oil, heating oil, gasoline, naphtha, jet fuel, and liquefied petroleum gas, as well as natural gas. It also produces coal, including steam and metallurgical coal and coke from its assets located in South America. This segment markets its coal products to power utilities, steel mills, cement producers, and chemical plants. The Agriculture Products segment processes, handles, markets, and exports wheat, corn, barley, rice, oilseeds, meals, edible oils, biodiesel, cotton, and sugar. The company serves customers in the automotive, steel production, power generation, oil, and food processing industries. The company was formerly known as Glencore International AG and changed its name to Glencore International plc on May 13, 2011. Glencore International plc was founded in 1974 and is headquartered in Baar, Switzerland.
